Police stopped suspected thieves in Royton early Thursday, seizing equipment used for break-ins and making three arrests.

Police stopped a suspicious vehicle on Rochdale Road in Royton at 2:35am Thursday, discovering tools, balaclavas, winches, jamming equipment, and false number plates inside.

Three men aged 37, 41, and 42 were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Kelly Paterson praised officers for potentially preventing crime, saying the arrests demonstrate police commitment to protecting law-abiding residents.

The recovered items will be assessed as part of ongoing investigations into criminal activity in the Oldham area.
