Transport for Greater Manchester has published its latest accessibility statement for tfgm.com, revealing both progress and ongoing challenges for disabled users across the region. The transport authority says its website now allows users to change colours, contrast, and fonts, zoom in up to 400% on desktop, and navigate using keyboards, speech recognition, or screen readers.

However, the statement acknowledges several persistent issues that affect how people with disabilities can use the site. When users zoom in to the maximum 400% level, live chat and survey pop-up tools become unresponsive and obscure page content. Some complex images lack text descriptions, and certain PDF documents remain inaccessible to screen reader software.

The transport body says it's committed to improving accessibility in line with 2018 regulations, though the website remains only partially compliant with current standards. Videos may lack audio description due to production constraints, and some content published before September 2018 falls outside the scope of required fixes.

TfGM offers to provide information in alternative formats within five days of request and maintains a telephone translation service for customers needing information in different languages. The website undergoes ongoing testing, with the most recent comprehensive audit completed by Zoonou in April 2025.
