Oldham actress Siobhan Finneran stars in new Netflix cult thriller Unchosen

Oldham actress Siobhan Finneran is set to star in Netflix's new thriller series 'Unchosen', which launches on April 21. The six-part series follows a Christian cult called The Fellowship of the Divine, where Finneran plays Mrs Phillips, wife of cult leader Mr Phillips, portrayed by Christopher Eccleston.

The story centers on married couple Rosie and Adam, played by Molly Windsor and Asa Butterfield, who live in the isolated community with their daughter. Their lives are disrupted when a mysterious stranger named Sam arrives seeking refuge, throwing the cult into chaos and exposing cracks in Rosie and Adam's marriage.

According to Netflix, Sam presents himself as Rosie's potential savior, but his dark criminal past raises questions about where the real danger lies-with the cult or with the newcomer. Finneran's character can be heard in the trailer delivering an ominous line: 'Put your trust in the lord and the men who follow his instructions.

The series has been described as a miniseries, suggesting no second season is planned. A trailer has already been released on Netflix and social media platforms, building anticipation for the April 21 premiere. This marks another high-profile role for Finneran, who joins other Oldham talents like Julie Hesmondhalgh in bringing national attention to the town's acting community.
