Singer from Oldham was found with a stab wound, inquest hears
A popular Oldham singer has died after being found with a fatal stab wound at a friend's home in Royton. Patrick O'Hare, known to friends as Paddy, was discovered at a property on Higginshaw Lane on March 8.
An inquest opened at Rochdale Coroner's Court this week, where police confirmed a man in his 40s had been arrested on suspicion of murder but later released with no further action. A Home Office post-mortem examination ruled out third-party involvement, finding no suspicious circumstances.
The 48-year-old father-of-one was identified by a family member and was wearing a Greater Manchester Police identification bracelet when found. His death has deeply affected the local music community, with radio DJ Mike Sweeney paying tribute to his former musical partner.
Friends have launched an appeal to help cover funeral costs for Mr O'Hare, who leaves behind his partner Gina and young daughter Luna Rose. A full inquest has yet to be scheduled, though a review is set for April 8.
