Saddleworth couple wins £10k monthly lottery prize
A Saddleworth couple are celebrating after winning £10,000 a month for a year on the National Lottery's Set for Life game. Denby Sinclair, 58, from Diggle, decided to play a lucky dip with some leftover wages at the end of the month, not realising it would change their lives forever.
His wife Sam was staying on their boat in Conwy when Denby discovered the winning ticket. 'When he said we'd won Set For Life, I honestly thought it was a joke,' Sam said. 'I just didn't believe him.' The couple have already started treating family and friends, giving their children money and taking friends out for dinner at their local restaurant.
Both qualified sailors, the Sinclairs have drawn up an ambitious bucket list for their winnings, with skippering a boat off the Greek coast at the top of their priorities. They have four children and three grandchildren who are all lined up for special treats. Despite their windfall, the couple plan to continue working for now while they do 'serious planning' for an early retirement.
Denby played via the National Lottery app, matching five correct balls to win the monthly prize. Had they also secured the Life Ball, their winnings would have been £10,000 a month for 30 years. The Set For Life draw takes place twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, offering players the chance to win regular monthly payments rather than a lump sum.
