Respite care home for children planned in Greenacres, Oldham

Eight-bedroom Greenacres Road home could become 24/7 respite care for children with additional needs, with 13 staff and no building changes planned.

Plans have been submitted to turn an eight-bedroom house on Greenacres Road into a respite care home for children with additional needs. The facility would provide eight overnight places and ten daytime places, operating 24 hours a day with 13 full-time staff members.

NW Care Property Limited has applied for planning permission to change the use of the property from a dwelling to a care facility. The company, which operates under the NW Care Group brand, says it wants to create 'beautiful children's homes' where young people can 'thrive' in a 'loving environment'.

The property would remain unchanged internally and externally, with the 12 existing parking spaces staying the same. Staff rotas would be staggered to avoid everyone arriving and leaving at once, with the entrance on Lynwood Drive.

The plans don't specify what types of additional needs the facility would cater for, and there's no detail on whether the local community will be consulted before a decision is made. The application is now with Oldham Council's planning department for consideration.
