Police investigate assault of 17-year-old girl at Tandle Hill Park
Police are investigating an incident at Tandle Hill Country Park where a 17-year-old girl was found with scratches on her back and in pain. The investigation began after hospital staff reported concerns about the teenager's condition on Saturday, March 21.
Greater Manchester Police cordoned off two areas of the park-near the monument viewpoint and by the cafe entrance-after a member of the public found the girl's phone in the park. The cordons caused concern among local residents and disrupted normal park use for several days.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Johnston, leading the investigation for GMP's Oldham CID, said officers are working closely with the teenager, who is experiencing distress. 'We are working at her pace to establish exactly what, if anything, she can recall,' he explained.
Forensic specialists are examining evidence from the park, though police say the nature of the incident remains unclear. Officers have emphasized there have been no reports of ongoing risk to the public in the nearby area since the incident occurred.
