Police appeal fatal Failsworth collision 90-year-old woman dies
A 90-year-old woman has died a week after being struck by a reversing car on Albert Street West in Failsworth. The collision happened around 3pm on Wednesday, January 7, when the elderly pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that was backing up.
She was rushed to hospital in serious condition but sadly passed away from her injuries on Tuesday, January 13. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences following the incident, but has since been released on police bail.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now leading the inquiry and has stepped up its appeal for witnesses. Officers are particularly keen to speak with anyone who saw the vehicle driving in the area before the collision, witnessed the incident itself, or has dashcam footage or CCTV that could help with their investigation.
