Oldham musician Paddy O'Hare dies aged 48 funeral appeal launched
The sudden death of 48-year-old musician Paddy O'Hare has left the Oldham community in shock, with friends and venues across the borough paying tribute to a man described as a 'top bloke' and 'great musician' who brought music to pubs and events throughout the area.
O'Hare was found dead at a property on Higginshaw Lane in Royton on March 8, leaving behind a daughter and partner. His family has launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise £4,500 for funeral costs, having already collected nearly £2,000 in just over a week.
The funeral service will take place at 12:30pm on March 27 at St Edward's RC Church in Lees, with a private burial to follow. Organisers have asked anyone planning to attend to email [email protected] so they can estimate numbers, and have requested guests wear colourful clothing to honour O'Hare's vibrant personality and love of music.
Radio DJ Mike Sweeney, who performed with O'Hare in a musical duo, described him as a 'lovely talented man' in an online tribute, while local venues including Whittles Oldham and the Puckersley Inn in Royton also paid their respects. Any funds raised beyond the funeral costs will be placed in a trust for O'Hare's daughter.
