Oldham tram disruptions this spring 2026
Oldham Metrolink passengers face multiple disruptions this spring as major improvement works hit the Rochdale line. The first major disruption comes on Sunday, March 22, when no trams will run through Oldham at all, forcing passengers onto replacement buses or long walks between stops.
The Easter Bank Holiday weekend from April 3-6 will see all services terminate at Exchange Square, meaning anyone heading to East Didsbury must walk from Victoria to Exchange Square-about a five-minute journey that adds significant time to trips. The disruption continues from May 16-29 when the line between Rochdale Town Centre and Victoria closes completely.
Bee Network says the works are essential improvements but the timing creates headaches for commuters. Replacement buses won't even stop at Oldham Central due to the town centre's pedestrianisation, forcing passengers to find alternative ways to reach their destinations.
Services to East Didsbury will start at Exchange Square during the May works, while those heading to the Trafford Centre will need to change at Crumpsall via Market Street. Full details are available on the Bee Network website, but passengers are being urged to check their journeys before travelling.
