Oldham schools raise £10,000 for charity through acts of kindness

Oldham school pupils completed 13,000 acts of kindness and raised £10,889 for charity through community service.

Pupils and staff across Oldham's Epworth Education Trust have completed more than 13,000 acts of kindness while raising over £10,000 for charity through their Big Serve campaign.

The initiative saw ten schools across the trust participate in various community service activities, from visiting care homes and supporting food banks to organizing sponsored events like colour runs.

Together, the schools raised £10,889.42 for good causes, with pupils engaging in activities ranging from litter-picking and church cleaning to delivering cards to elderly residents and preparing care packages for families in need.

Julie-ann Hewitt, CEO of Epworth Education Trust, said the campaign forms part of their Infinite Eight strategy to provide pupils with rich experiences beyond the classroom.

She added: 'Kindness sits at the heart of everything we stand for as a Trust family. The Big Serve is about empowering our children to recognise the impact they can have on others and showing them that even the smallest gesture can make a meaningful difference.
