Meanwhile, Chapel Street East and New Bailey Gateway are operating under one-way restrictions as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.

In Stockport, Greek Street has been completely shut down to all traffic, leaving residents and businesses scrambling for access. The Castleton to Rochdale Active Travel Scheme is now in Phase 2, which means further disruptions along this popular commuter route. Tameside isn't escaping either, with Mottram-in-Longdendale and Hollingworth both experiencing significant roadworks.

Transport for Greater Manchester has warned that these works will create widespread traffic management challenges across the region. Councillor Mark Roberts from Rochdale Council acknowledged the disruption but emphasized the long-term benefits. 'We understand these works cause immediate inconvenience, but they're essential for improving our transport infrastructure,' he said. 'We're working to minimize disruption where possible and have coordinated with neighboring councils to avoid overlapping closures where we can.
