Oldham paint shop sells recycled paint from £3
A new paint shop in Oldham is giving leftover paint a second life, with residents snapping up recycled pots for just £3 each. The Renew Paint Shop opened at Arkwright Street Recycling Centre in November 2024 and has already distributed 5,710 litres of paint to the community.
Councillor Elaine Taylor said residents are 'embracing reuse like never before' as the shop proves popular with locals planning home improvements. 'Every purchase is making a real difference in our communities,' she added, noting the scheme helps both people's pockets and the planet.
The shop operates daily from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 6pm, with each pot guaranteed to be at least half full. Residents can also donate their leftover paint by placing it in the Renew container at the recycling centre.
The initiative is a partnership between Recycle for Greater Manchester and waste contractor SUEZ, with funds raised supporting the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity and local projects through the Renew Community Fund. Claire Williams, Renew manager at SUEZ, said feedback has been 'fantastic' as the shop proves sustainability can work at the community level.
