Oldham pubs in CAMRA Good Beer Guide 20+ times
Oldham's pubs have been raising a glass to their enduring quality, with several local watering holes earning special recognition from CAMRA for their decades-long presence in the Good Beer Guide. The celebrations come as the local branch marks 50 years of championing real ale across Oldham, Bury and Rochdale.
Leading the pack is the Cross Keys in Uppermill, which has featured in almost every edition of the guide over the past half-century, with an impressive 46 mentions. The Tandle Hill Tavern isn't far behind with 32 appearances, while the Swan Inn in Dobcross has made it into 22 editions.
The White Hart in Lydgate has been recognised for its 21 appearances in the guide, and the Ashton Arms on Clegg Street has achieved something even more remarkable-21 consecutive years of inclusion. But perhaps the most extraordinary achievement belongs to the Puckersley Inn in Royton, which is the only pub to have been featured in both the very first 1975 edition and the 2025 guide.
The Royton pub's owners, Jessica Brady and Danny Kernaghan, received a special award for this achievement from branch deputy chairman Mike Robinson back in July. CAMRA, founded in 1971, continues to champion British real ale and cider while highlighting the vital role pubs play in our communities and heritage.
