Oldham pub converts fire engine into travelling festival bar
The Fox and Pine pub in Oldham has taken an unusual step by converting a former fire engine into a travelling bar, creating a mobile venue that can serve drinks at festivals, corporate events, and charity fundraisers across the region.
Co-owners Chris Riley and his wife Michelle announced the project this week, revealing they're running a competition for locals to name the bar. The winner will get to pull the first pint from the converted vehicle, which will serve cask ale, craft beer, lagers, and cider on draught.
The fire engine's lights and sirens will remain functional, adding a unique touch to events. The pub plans to open bookings once the vehicle's new livery is complete and a name has been chosen, with the competition closing at the end of next week.
This creative venture comes on the heels of the pub's latest achievement-winning 'Pub of the Year' for the fifth consecutive year from the local CAMRA branch covering Rochdale, Oldham, and Bury. The Fox and Pine also recently earned CAMRA's Greater Manchester pub of the year title and received a nomination in the most-loved pub category for the I Love Manchester awards.
