Oldham parks to get £150k play area makeover

Oldham's parks get £150k upgrade with new swings, roundabouts and safety surfacing for families to enjoy this spring.

Oldham's parks are getting a £150,000 boost with new play equipment and safety upgrades across the borough. Families will find basket swings at George Street, Arundel Street and Holts Play Village, while High Crompton Park gets a new roundabout and Limeside Park adds fresh play panels.

The council's investment also includes £50,000 for safety surfacing at multiple sites, making play areas more accessible for children of all abilities. Westwood MUGA has seen pitch improvements, and resurfacing work has been completed at several locations.

Councillor Elaine Taylor, who oversees neighbourhoods, said the upgrades show Oldham's commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces where families can gather and children can play outdoors. The improvements come just in time for spring, when parks see their busiest use.

This funding builds on ongoing projects like the Section 106 improvements at St Martin's Play Area, part of a broader effort to maintain and enhance community spaces. With these upgrades, Oldham's parks will offer better facilities for years to come.
