Oldham's new market opens in The Spindles as £450m town centre investment begins

Oldham's new market opened its doors this weekend in The Spindles shopping centre, marking the latest milestone in a £450 million town centre transformation. The modern market space welcomed hundreds of residents who explored independent stalls, sampled food from local traders, and enjoyed live entertainment throughout Saturday. The market now sits alongside The Loom event space and links directly to Parliament Square, creating a new hub for shopping, culture and community gatherings.

Councillor Arooj Shah described the opening as a proud moment for Oldham, celebrating both the town's market heritage and its future ambitions. The first 100 visitors received free goodie bags as crowds packed the new space from opening time at 9am. The market entrance is located opposite Molino Lounge on Yorkshire Street, making it easily accessible from the town centre.
