Oldham's new indoor market opening day details revealed

Oldham's new indoor market opens March 28 with entertainment, free family activities, and 70 traders in a modern two-level space.

Oldham's new indoor market is set to open on March 28, replacing the historic Tommyfield Market which closes on March 21 after decades of service. The new facility, simply called The Market, will feature around 70 trader spaces across two levels, with many familiar faces from Tommyfield making the move to the modern space.

The opening day promises to be a celebration with entertainment running from 9am to 3pm. Visitors can enjoy performances from a Taylor Swift tribute act and K-Pop Universe, alongside local talent including Fierce Dance and Natraj Dance Academy. The quirky Granny Turismo will also be racing through town with their shopping trolley antics.

Families are particularly well catered for with free children's activities including arts and crafts, face painting, and balloon creations from Balloonatics. There will also be arcade games and rides to keep younger visitors entertained. The first 100 people through the doors will receive free goodie bags to mark the occasion.

The Market offers improved accessibility with entrances on Parliament Square opposite Molino Lounge and inside Spindles shopping centre near H.Samuel. Both entrances are accessible, making it easier for shoppers to reach the new facility. The two-level design connects directly to Spindles, creating a seamless shopping experience for visitors.
