Oldham infant school praised by Ofsted for 'joyful' learning
Springhead Infant and Nursery School has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for providing a 'high quality' education in a 'joyful' environment where children feel safe and excited to learn.
The school, which serves families in the Springhead area of Oldham, was graded as a 'strong standard' in its latest inspection report. Pupils told inspectors they found the school 'joyful' to attend and felt secure in their learning environment.
Ofsted found that children at the school are 'confident, skilful' learners who benefit from a curriculum 'rich in stories and books' that 'fire' their imagination. The report highlighted that disadvantaged students and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) make 'very well' progress through the curriculum.
Teachers' expertise and the leadership team's meticulous curriculum design were singled out for praise. Inspectors noted that staff provide 'skilful teaching, well matched and adapted to pupils' individual needs', with particular success in supporting children with SEND.
Executive headteacher expressed pride in the outcome, saying: 'We are very pleased with the inspection outcome, the Ofsted report reflects the strengths of the school well. We are very proud of our children, who demonstrate enthusiasm and a love of learning.
