Oldham dad-of-six Daniel Hill dies in M6 crane crash
A 34-year-old father of six from Oldham has died in a crash on the M6 that's left his family heartbroken. Daniel Hill was a passenger in a white Renault van that collided with a crane truck near junction 16 for Crewe at around 7.47pm on March 3.
Emergency services pronounced Hill dead at the scene, while the van's 30-year-old driver from Manchester suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital. The southbound carriageway was closed for several hours as police investigated.
Hill's family described him as a 'hardworking family man' whose partner and six children were 'the centre of his world'. They said he was an avid rugby player for his town team, a football supporter, and someone who loved music.
Known for his sense of humour, Hill would entertain friends and family with impressions of comedians like Lee Evans. His family said he was 'a well-liked and memorable character' who will be 'deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him'.
Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward as their investigation continues. They're asking people to call 101, quoting IML 2281889, or visit their website.
