Oldham criminals sentenced March 2026

March has brought a wave of serious crimes to Oldham, with courts handing down sentences to offenders who targeted local residents. From false rape accusations to a burglary spree and a cockroach-infested restaurant, these cases have shaken the community and left victims dealing with lasting consequences.

Stacy Sharples, a 31-year-old from Bolton, has been jailed for four-and-a-half years after falsely accusing 10 men of rape, including several from Oldham. The court heard how her lies led to arrests, destroyed relationships, and ruined job prospects for the innocent men she targeted. A judge branded her a 'sexual predator' for the devastating impact of her actions.

Meanwhile, two young men from the area have been locked up for a 10-day burglary spree that left Oldham residents feeling unsafe in their own homes. Lewis Muir, 22, and David Boyd, 22, broke into properties across the borough, stealing cars, handbags, cash, and other valuables. Some victims had children sleeping inside when the break-ins occurred.

In a separate case, restaurant owner Sajjadur Aziz Malik has been ordered to pay £7,616 after health inspectors found his Warrington restaurant crawling with cockroaches. Live and dead insects were discovered in refrigerators, freezers, chillers, and even in food preparation bowls at The Cottage on Church Street. Malik, who initially fled the country, surrendered to court and pleaded guilty to 11 food safety violations.
