Oldham community groups win £4.5m capital grants
Community groups across Oldham have won a £4.5 million funding boost to upgrade local facilities and spaces. The grants were announced at a celebration event at Chadderton Town Hall on Thursday 26 March, where voluntary organisations, faith groups, and social enterprises gathered to mark the investment.
The money will fund improvements to buildings, parks, sports facilities, community centres, churches, and green spaces across Oldham's districts. Projects aim to make these spaces more accessible, safer, and more inclusive for residents of all ages.
Oldham Council Leader Arooj Shah praised the organisations as 'the backbone of our borough' during the event. She said the investment would help groups grow, reach more residents, and continue making a difference where it matters most.
The funding comes through the Community Regeneration Partnership Capital Grants scheme. It represents a major investment in the spaces and places that provide vital support to local people every day.
From upgraded community centres to improved parks and sports facilities, the changes will create better places for residents to gather, learn, and connect. The work will strengthen community support services and create more inclusive environments across the borough.
