Oldham cuts bulky waste collection costs from April 2026

Bulky waste collections get cheaper and simpler from April 1st, 2026, with £10 per item and no extra charges.

Oldham residents will soon find it cheaper and simpler to get rid of unwanted furniture and large items after the council announced changes to bulky waste collection charges starting April 1st, 2026.

The new system will charge £10 per item with no extra fees for specific items like fridge freezers, which currently cost an additional £12. Smaller electrical items will cost just £5 each.

Councillor Elaine Taylor, who leads on neighbourhoods for Oldham Council, said the changes aim to make responsible disposal more affordable and reduce fly-tipping across the borough.

Residents can book collections online at www.oldham.gov.uk or by calling 0161 770 6644. The council hopes clearer pricing will encourage more people to use the service rather than leaving items on streets or dumping them illegally.
