New Italian cafe Nonnas opens in Greenfield, Saddleworth
A popular Italian cafe has opened its second site in Greenfield, bringing its warm, community-focused atmosphere to Saddleworth. Nonnas, which has been thriving in Stalybridge for three years, launched in the former Pick Me Up Co building on Chew Valley Road last weekend.
Owner Anthony Zazzarino said the opening day was 'perfect' with queues stretching out the door for the entire four-hour service. The cafe currently serves coffee, cakes, bakes and deli items, with plans to add alcohol and basement seating by May.
Zazzarino deliberately chose a small venue to recreate the intimate atmosphere that has made his Stalybridge site so successful. 'I wanted somewhere really intimate again,' he explained, 'where strangers come in every day and start talking to each other, and then they build a relationship.
The new site will eventually offer a small food menu if demand justifies it, but for now customers can book tables at the Stalybridge location while visiting Greenfield. Zazzarino hopes to create the same friendly, social space where locals can meet and form lasting connections.
