New cake shed opens in Oldham - honesty box treats

A new honesty-box cake shed in Limeside is already a hit, selling out twice in two days with security cameras watching for thieves.

A bright pink cake shed has opened on Farm Road in Limeside, and Oldham residents are already lining up for a taste of the treats inside. Nana Cheri launched her honesty-box bakery on Friday, and by lunchtime most of the 150 items had already sold out.

The shed offers stuffed cookies, jammy biscuits, cupcakes, custard pots, and Milky Bar cookie crumb gooey flapjack. Customers serve themselves and pay either by bank transfer or cash in provided envelopes. Security cameras monitor the shed, and Nana Cheri has warned that anyone caught stealing will be publicly named and shamed.

The concept has taken off nationwide, with Facebook groups dedicated to finding local cake sheds and sharing business advice. Nana Cheri's social media pages, including a new TikTok account, have been buzzing with updates about restocking and opening times.

After selling out twice in the first two days, Nana Cheri says she now knows she needs ten times more stock to meet demand. 'I'm just bursting with pride, gratefulness and everything in between,' she posted after the second sell-out. The shed has quickly become a sweet new fixture in the Limeside community.
