£7.1m Mossylea Close development delivers 29 new homes in Middleton

29 new affordable homes built on former brownfield site in Middleton to help tackle housing shortage.

A £7.1 million housing development has delivered 29 new homes on a former brownfield site in Middleton, providing much-needed affordable housing for local families. The Mossylea Close development, completed by First Choice Homes Oldham, includes 21 properties for affordable rent and eight shared ownership homes.

Councillor Neil Emmott, who served as a Middleton councillor for many years, visited the site and praised the transformation of the land. 'I can't think of a better use of this brownfield site than to see it repurposed into attractive homes for our residents,' he said.

Councillor Danny Meredith, cabinet member for housing and regeneration, highlighted the urgent need for new housing in the borough. 'We've declared a housing emergency because we know families need homes,' he explained, welcoming the development as a step toward addressing the shortage.

The development features 24 three-bedroom houses, three two-bedroom houses, and two two-bedroom bungalows. Jayne Lawson from First Choice Homes Oldham said the organisation plans to build 600 more homes in coming years, including additional schemes in Middleton and Heywood.
