Manchester Airport jobs event brings aviation careers to Oldham
Manchester Airport brought its recruitment drive to Oldham town centre this week, setting up shop at Get Oldham Working's offices to connect local residents with hundreds of aviation jobs. The event on Monday saw representatives from Manchester Airports Group (MAG) showcase live vacancies across customer service, security, engineering, retail, hospitality, logistics, and operational support roles.
James Ogborn from Get Oldham Working said the partnership means residents don't need to travel to the airport for career opportunities. 'MAG is a major employer with outstanding opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds,' he explained. 'Bringing these vacancies directly to local residents helps strengthen our community and build long-term prosperity.
Councillor Fida Hussain emphasized the council's commitment to sustainable employment, calling the collaboration 'a fantastic example of how we're bringing high-quality opportunities directly to our communities.' Tina Edwards from Manchester Airport said the company is 'proud to serve the people of Oldham' and wants residents to share in the airport's success through accessible career pathways.
The event provided information on current vacancies, recruitment campaigns, and apprenticeships, with MAG staff on hand to explain the application process. For Oldham residents looking to work in aviation without commuting to the airport, this brings career opportunities closer to home.
