Man arrested after 120mph police chase on M60 in Oldham

Police arrested a wanted man after a high-speed chase on the M60 that endangered other drivers in wet conditions.

A wanted man has been arrested after leading police on a dangerous 120mph chase along the M60 near Oldham yesterday afternoon. The 37-year-old, who was wanted on recall to prison, was spotted driving a BMW by officers from Greater Manchester Police's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit.

The pursuit lasted around two minutes in rainy conditions, with the suspect weaving between vehicles and allegedly driving into oncoming traffic. Police released video showing the driver initially appearing to exit the motorway before veering back onto the main carriageway.

Officers eventually boxed in the BMW, forcing the man to abandon his vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences including dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, possession of indecent images of children, and being wanted on recall to prison.

Detective Sergeant Carla Dalton from GMP's Challenger Team said the arrest demonstrates their officers are 'always on the lookout, always alert, and always ready to take appropriate action.' The suspect remains in custody for questioning.
