New Loom event space opens in Oldham town centre

New flexible event space opens in Oldham town centre, part of £450m regeneration project.

Oldham's town centre has a brand new event space that's already making waves. The Loom opened its doors this week with a VIP launch attended by the Mayor and Council Leader, marking another milestone in the town's £450million regeneration project.

The venue sits at Parliament Square, right next to The Spindles shopping centre and above the new Oldham Market. It's a flexible space that can hold up to 1,000 people standing or 500 for dining, making it suitable for everything from wedding receptions to conferences and exhibitions.

The name pays tribute to Oldham's cotton spinning heritage-the town was once known as the 'cotton spinning capital of the world'. The three connected developments-The Loom, The Market, and The Spindles-all reference this industrial past while looking to the future.

Council Leader Cllr Arooj Shah described it as 'a landmark moment for our town centre' that brings together Oldham's proud heritage with a bold vision for what comes next. The space can be configured in multiple ways, from theatre-style for performances to party layouts with dancefloors.

Local residents and businesses can now book The Loom for their events through The Spindles website. It's expected to become a key destination in the regenerated town centre, creating new opportunities for community gatherings, business events, and celebrations.
