Oldham Illuminate Festival 2026: Light art, music, and performances
Oldham's Illuminate Light Night returns for its ninth year on Saturday 21 February, transforming the town centre into a dazzling showcase of light art, music and performances from 6pm to 9pm.
The free event features over 15 installations including Sentinel by Studio Vertigo, a sheltering light sculpture on Market Street, and Illumaphonium, a 3.5-metre interactive musical sculpture made from 108 hand-tuned chime bars.
The evening kicks off with a joyful parade led by The Dancing Diyas and Saddleworth Women's Morris and Clog, featuring striking puppets, live music and choreography from the Civic Centre to Old Town Hall.
Old Town Hall becomes the canvas for a dramatic projection artwork by Illuminos, telling the story of the Indian Roller Bird and Queen Honey Bee, while Gallery Oldham offers exhibitions and light painting workshops throughout the night.
Councillor. Arooj Shah said: 'Illuminate Oldham is something we're incredibly proud of. It shows just how creative our town is, and we want everyone to come along, soak up the atmosphere and join us for this fantastic celebration.
