Gogglebox star Baasit Siddiqui visits Oldham school

TV star Baasit Siddiqui praised Oldham Academy North for its student opportunities and collaborative culture during a trustee visit.

Gogglebox star Baasit Siddiqui has visited The Oldham Academy North, touring the school as a trustee of the E-ACT multi-academy trust. The TV personality, who rose to fame alongside his family on the Channel 4 show, spent time meeting staff and students at the Royton school.

During his visit, Siddiqui learned about the school's wide range of social clubs and heard about a recent trip to Thailand. He also listened to members of the school council share their experiences at the academy.

Interim headteacher Natalie Kennerley welcomed Siddiqui to experience 'a day in the life' at the school. The TV star praised the academy's balance between strong systems and empowering teachers, noting a clear sense of collaboration throughout the building.

Siddiqui, who worked as a full-time teacher before becoming an entrepreneur in 2018, was particularly impressed by the opportunities available to students. 'It was just so great to see how students are given opportunities that will shape not only their results, but their character and aspirations,' he said.
