Food reviewer sparks strong reaction after being turned away from Oldham Popeye's

A food reviewer has sparked a social media storm after being turned away from a promotional event at the new Popeye's restaurant in Oldham. Peety Scranz, who reviews food spots across the North West, claimed he was invited to help promote the American fried chicken chain's latest branch at Elk Mill Shopping Park but was denied entry for being 15 minutes late due to traffic.

The reviewer, who admitted the delay was his fault, said the manager was 'just being arsey' before leaving a one-star Google review and heading to Nando's instead for 'proper chicken'. His Facebook post about the incident has divided opinion, with hundreds of comments both criticising and supporting his actions.

Critics called him a 'man child' and 'typical influencer' for what they saw as a tantrum over missing a free meal. Supporters praised his 'pettiness' and some even vowed to boycott Popeye's. The restaurant chain declined to comment when approached by the Oldham Times.

The incident comes just weeks after the restaurant opened to huge queues, with one fan arriving at 2am for a chance to win free chicken sandwiches for a year. The Oldham Times previously reviewed the branch and said it 'lived up to the hype'.
