Drug dealer caught after police pulled over BMW in Oldham and made big discovery
A major drug dealer from Oldham has been jailed for 12 years after police pulled over his BMW and discovered a fortune in drugs and cash. Matthew Harrison, 52, was driving along Middleton Road last September when officers stopped his black BMW and found 6kg of cannabis, 1,000 MDMA tablets, and 55g of cocaine hidden inside.
The search didn't stop there. Police went to Harrison's home and found £156,000 in cash stuffed under bedside drawers, along with a Rolex-branded watch, paintings, and two cash counting machines. The total haul was worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Detective Constable Andy Pearson from the Oldham Challenger team said the sentence reflects how seriously courts take drug supply. 'He was clearly operating to profit from the exploitation and misery caused by illegal drugs,' Pearson explained.
The case shows how police are actively targeting drug dealers in Oldham. The Challenger team works to identify and disrupt those who think they can deal drugs without consequences. Anyone with concerns about drug dealing can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
