Charity partnership raises £1,000 through 2,000 pies sold in Oldham
A partnership between two Oldham-based organisations has raised over £1,000 through the sale of more than 2,000 pies, supporting people rebuilding their lives after prison. PossAbilities CIC, a Heywood social enterprise, has named the HMPasties Foundation as its Charity of the Year, launching the collaboration during British Pie Week.
The campaign saw PossAbilities sponsor the HMPasties' Steak and Ale Pie, with 2,148 pies sold to support the charity's work. HMPasties, based in Oldham, produces handmade pies and pasties while providing employment and training to people leaving prison, helping them develop skills and confidence for long-term work.
David Morgan, CEO of the HMPasties Foundation, said the partnership was a fantastic start, noting that both organisations share a commitment to helping people overcome challenges and build brighter futures. Rachel Law, chief executive of PossAbilities, said they were delighted to support the foundation's mission to break the cycle of reoffending.
The Foundation also offers mentoring and employability programmes to support successful reintegration into society. The two organisations will work together on fundraising and awareness activities throughout the year, continuing their shared commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals in the community.
