Chadderton dad survives 200ft fall at Trinnacle Peak District
Five years ago this week, a Chadderton dad's life hung by a thread after a 200ft fall from one of the Peak District's most iconic rock formations. Imran Choudhury, then 36, was posing for a photo on the Trinnacle's three-pronged rock towers when he fainted and plummeted onto the scrubland below.
The fall shattered his skull, broke his spine, and left his right leg hanging by just its skin. Emergency crews from Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Oldham Mountain Rescue, and the Coast Guard Helicopter spent nearly three hours reaching him in the remote Dovestone area before airlifting him to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.
Imran spent 19 days in a coma during the height of COVID-19 lockdown, unable to see family or friends. When he woke, he couldn't move, eat, or drink without help. 'I didn't think I could walk again,' he said.
The South Chadderton resident, now 41, still carries the physical and emotional scars but has rebuilt his life. Through his website coinsandcollectibles.co.uk, he continues raising money for charity-the same mission that brought him to the Trinnacle that fateful February day in 2021.
