New 19-acre Chadderton park opens to positive reviews

Chadderton's new 19-acre park is already popular with walkers and families, though some want more bins and signs.

A new 19-acre linear park has opened at Broadway Green in Chadderton, creating fresh green space for residents to enjoy. The park, which opened last month, connects to Foxdenton Park and offers walking routes, play areas, and seating spots for families and dog walkers.

Councillor Elaine Taylor described the park as a 'beautiful place where families can relax, children can play, and local people can enjoy the outdoors right on their doorstep for generations to come.' While the park was quiet during a recent visit, those who were there praised the design and facilities.

Deb, visiting for the first time with her dog, said she was 'quite impressed' with the path layout and seating areas. She noted it works well for both children and dogs, and creates an extension from Foxdenton Park for bigger dogs to stretch their legs.

Regular visitor Jackie Blackmoor, 74, walks through the park daily as part of her four-mile route. She called it 'a wonderful place because it's quiet and you can think while you walk,' and praised the ongoing redevelopment work in the area.

Dog walker Stewart Hibbert highlighted the health benefits, saying green spaces like this are 'pretty good for the soul on a sunny day' and help keep the population healthy. Online reviews have been largely positive, though some visitors have suggested adding bins and better signage to the site.
