Car overturned near Elk Mill in Royton crash
A red car overturned on Broadway near Elk Mill in Royton this afternoon, just days after a fatal crash on the same stretch of road claimed the life of a local man. Emergency services rushed to the scene at 4.15pm where they found the vehicle on its roof in the middle of the road.
Three people were inside the car but managed to get themselves out before firefighters arrived from Chadderton and Oldham stations, along with a technical rescue unit from Ashton. Firefighters worked alongside police and ambulance crews to stabilise the vehicle and clear debris from the road.
The North West Ambulance Service assessed the casualties at the scene but none required hospital treatment. Police confirmed no one was seriously injured in the crash, though the incident has heightened concerns among residents about safety on this busy road.
This latest crash comes just days after Michael Margetson from Oldham died in a three-car collision on March 17 involving a Mercedes, Toyota Prius, and Ford. With several traffic incidents in recent months, locals say the Broadway stretch has become a trouble spot that many now actively avoid.
