Car fire on A627 near Royton - Oldham emergency response

Fire crews rushed to the A627 near Royton this afternoon after a car burst into flames on the busy slip road connecting to the A664. The emergency call came in at 3.30pm on Wednesday, March 18, prompting a swift response from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

Two fire engines from Rochdale and Chadderton stations arrived to find the vehicle already well alight on the slip road. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control while police officers managed traffic in the area to keep motorists safe.

The male driver had managed to get out of the car before emergency services arrived, avoiding what could have been a much more serious incident. Fire crews remained on scene for about an hour to make sure the area was completely safe before leaving.

The incident caused some disruption to traffic on this major route through the area, though the quick response from both fire and police services helped minimise delays.
