Oldham residents invited to comment on Beal Valley and Broadbent Moss development plans

Residents have until March 27 to comment on plans for new homes, Metrolink stop, and improved transport links in Beal Valley and Broadbent Moss.

Oldham Council has launched a public consultation on major development plans for Beal Valley and Broadbent Moss, with residents invited to comment on proposals that could reshape the area over the coming years. The plans include building new homes, creating a new Metrolink stop at Cop Road with a park and ride facility, and improving walking and cycling connections between neighbourhoods.

Councillor Elaine Taylor, the council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said the masterplan would bring 'much needed affordable housing' and better transport links to the area. She emphasised that the consultation gives residents a chance to shape the final plans before they're adopted.

The proposals also include enhanced open spaces where nature can flourish, improved access to the wider countryside, and community facilities. The consultation document outlines both the opportunities and constraints that have informed the plans, including how infrastructure will be delivered in phases.

Residents can view the plans online at www.oldham.gov.uk or in person at local libraries and the council's customer service centre in Spindles Shopping Centre. The consultation runs until Friday 27th March, after which the council will consider all feedback before finalising the Supplementary Planning Document.
