Attempted murder probe in Oldham as man in 80s left in life-threatening condition

A man in his 80s is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious assault in Oldham's Springhead area last night. Police were called to Stoneleigh Road at 5:12pm on Sunday, March 1, where they found the elderly victim with multiple injuries.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning. Superintendent Cara Charlesworth said officers believe the victim and suspect are known to each other, and there is no wider risk to the community.
