Friends run 24-hour challenge for Royton mum's dream holiday

Royton community unites for 24-hour challenge to fund dream Tenerife holiday for family of mum who died from cervical cancer.

Friends and family of Royton mum Rebecca Shaw are rallying together to make her final wish come true, months after she lost her battle with cervical cancer at just 36 years old.

Rebecca, who left behind husband Graham and four children, had dreamed of taking the family on a holiday to Tenerife-the destination of her first trip away with Graham.

Now, around 30 people including close friend Vikkilee Henson will take on a grueling 24-hour challenge on April 4, running or working out every hour on the hour at HyFit HQ gym in Diggle.

The 'Leg it for Leesy' campaign, organised by local fundraiser Matthew Lees in memory of his own brother, aims to raise £10,000 for the dream holiday and living costs.

With over £1,000 already raised through JustGiving, participants will be cheered on by crowds and children can join a special running track, with QR codes available for passersby to donate on the day.
