101 affordable homes for Oldham by 2027 under £15.7m deal

Fitton Hill will get 101 new affordable homes by 2027, with focus on family-sized properties and sustainable design.

More than 100 new affordable homes are coming to Fitton Hill after First Choice Homes Oldham signed a £15.7 million deal with developer Vistry Group. The project, which will deliver 101 homes across two sites off Rosary Road, represents the biggest housing scheme FCHO has ever undertaken in terms of the number of properties. Construction is already underway on the former Fitton Hill Secondary Modern School site, with work on a nearby greenfield plot set to begin this month.

The development will include homes for social rent, rent to buy, and shared ownership, with a particular focus on larger family properties. Of the total, 64 will be three or four-bedroom houses, while 72 two and three-bedroom properties will be available on the second site. All homes will feature sustainable design elements aimed at reducing living costs for residents.

Andy Ewart, deputy chief executive at FCHO, said the scheme demonstrates the organisation's commitment to building at least 600 new properties in the coming years. 'This major new investment by FCHO in affordable properties for Oldham is going to help us deliver the much-needed family homes the area needs,' he said. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, bringing much-needed housing options to an area where demand for larger family homes has been growing.
