A woman, 27, has been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a joint raid by Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire Police at an address in Werneth.

Officers from the Chadderton and Werneth neighbourhood policing team carried out a forced-entry warrant at a property on Hereford Street on August 11, working alongside West Yorkshire's Operation Phoenix team.

The warrant followed an investigation by neighbourhood officers from both forces into suspected drug supply between Oldham and Bradford, prompted by intelligence from the local community.

At the scene police recovered a quantity of suspected Class A, Class B and Class C drugs, cash and two bladed articles. All have been seized.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A, B and C drugs and has been taken to Bradford for questioning by West Yorkshire Police.

PS Tom Layton of the Chadderton and Werneth neighbourhood policing team described the work as a great example of neighbourhood policing, saying that working with West Yorkshire Police allowed officers to identify and disrupt suspected criminal activity crossing force boundaries.

He said drug-related crime causes significant harm to residents and can be linked to violence, exploitation and wider anti-social behaviour, and that taking positive action against those suspected of supplying illegal drugs remains one of their key priorities.

Mr Layton thanked those who came forward with information and encouraged anyone with concerns about crime in their area to report them to police.

Anyone with information about crime or suspected drug activity can contact Greater Manchester Police on 101 or through the Live Chat service at www.gmp.police.uk. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
