A man was taken to hospital on Sunday afternoon following an assault in Urmston town centre, with police cordoning off part of Station Road as they investigate.

The incident was reported at around 12:17pm on Sunday 7 June 2026. Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Station Road, a main thoroughfare through the town centre, following reports of an assault.

The male victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. No arrests have been made at this stage, and inquiries are ongoing.

A GMP spokesperson confirmed: “Officers were called to reports of an assault on Station Road in Urmston at around 12:17pm this afternoon. The male victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. Work is ongoing to arrest people in relation to this incident.”

Parts of Station Road were cordoned off during the afternoon while officers conducted their investigations. Multiple police vehicles were seen at the scene, and the road was closed to both traffic and pedestrians for a time before being reopened later.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or who may have captured dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward. Witnesses can contact GMP by calling 101 or via the force’s website, quoting incident number 1520 of 7 June 2026.
