The Radclyffe School students celebrate their GCSE achievements
The Radclyffe School students celebrated GCSE results, with best-ever English and Maths grades, on 20 August 2026.

Year 11 students at The Radclyffe School collected their GCSE results today, with the school reporting its best-ever percentage of pupils achieving Grade 7 or above in both English and Maths.
The figure of 12.8% tops the school's previous record. In total, 56.2% of students achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, while 36% reached Grade 5 or above in the two subjects.
Across all grades awarded, 15.2% were Grade 7 or above, 41% were Grade 5 or above, and 58% were Grade 4 or above.
Among the top performers, Gana Hegazy achieved seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Grade 7. Che Whalley also secured seven Grade 9s and two Grade 8s, while Tayyiba Begum came away with three Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and one Grade 6.
Headteacher John Cregg said: "I am incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved during their time at The Radclyffe School."
"Results day is about much more than grades. Behind every result is a young person who has worked hard, faced challenges and taken another important step towards their future."
He added: "For some students, today marks the beginning of their next chapter at Sixth Form or college, while others are looking ahead to apprenticeships, training or employment. Whatever path they have chosen, I hope they leave us feeling proud of what they have achieved and confident about what comes next."
Mr Cregg also thanked staff, families and the wider school community for their support over the past five years.
Che Whalley is now heading to Xaverian College to study Music, Music Technology and French. He said the encouragement he received from staff to pursue his passion for music had made a huge difference.
His mum added: "It's been a brilliant school for him, the teachers have been so supportive of him, and he has grown from a shy young boy to an independent and thoughtful young man. I couldn't be more proud."
Lucy Needham, who achieved three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and a Grade 7, will attend Crompton House Sixth Form to study Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry at A-Level. She is not yet sure of her desired career path, but work experience at a pathology lab has provided some inspiration.
Millie O'Neill came away with three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and one Grade 7. She said: "I'm very proud of my results, I couldn't be happier. Especially in Chemistry, I got a 9 and didn't think I was ever going to get that. So, if you work hard enough, you definitely can."
Looking ahead to Oldham Sixth Form College, she added: "The Radclyffe School has given me a strong foundation for all of my future plans."
Hamzah Ali said he is "really happy with the results", having achieved four Grade 8s and four Grade 7s. He plans to go to Blue Coat Sixth Form in September.
Sue Webb, Chair of Governors, said: "On behalf of the Governors, I would like to congratulate all our Year 11 students on their results."
"Every student should be proud of the commitment and effort they have shown during their time at The Radclyffe School. We would also like to thank the staff, families and wider school community who have supported them throughout their journey."
"We wish all of our students every success as they move on to their next steps."
