The former Rose and Crown pub on King Street in Delph is to become a specialist drinks shop and tasting room called TASTE Saddleworth.

The team behind the venture said it has received the official go-ahead to open in the centre of the village, close to the river. It said the plans had been several months in the making.

In its announcement, the team said: "After a few months of deep thought and hoop jumping, we have finally got the official green light to open our specialist drink shop and tasting room, TASTE Saddleworth, right here in our lovely village of Delph."

It added: "We'll be setting up shop in the old Rose & Crown Pub, just on King Street, by the river."

Work to transform the premises is now under way. No exact opening date has been confirmed, but the team hopes to welcome its first customers during October if preparations go according to plan.
