A scooter rider has lost his life following a collision with a car in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on Friday, 22nd May, at the junction of Southmoor Road and Floatshall Road in south Manchester.

A white Peugeot E-5008 was travelling along Southmoor Road when it turned and collided with the rider of a Peugeot Speedflight scooter, according to GMP.

The scooter rider, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. In a statement issued on Saturday, the force said: “He sadly died of his injuries today.”

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released on bail while the investigation continues.

GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry and specialist officers are providing support to the victim’s family.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Officers are “keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV footage, dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the incident.”
