Purple Lamborghini seized by police on Featherstall Road in Oldham after excessive engine revving
Police seized a purple Lamborghini in Oldham for excessive revving under new powers allowing immediate vehicle seizure without prior warning.

Police seized a purple Lamborghini Huracan on Featherstall Road in Oldham on Tuesday after the driver was accused of excessive engine revving.
Greater Manchester Police said the supercar was taken under new legislation covering anti-social driving and excessive engine revving. An image of the vehicle being loaded onto a truck was released by the force.
The seizure was made under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, as amended by the Crime and Policing Act 2026. Under the updated powers, officers can now seize a vehicle immediately without first issuing a warning, provided the legal grounds are met. Previously, a warning was generally required before a vehicle could be taken.
GMP said a vehicle can be seized if a uniformed officer has reasonable grounds to believe it is being used carelessly or inconsiderately, or unlawfully off-road. Seizure is also possible if the manner of driving is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.
The force said the new powers also cover street racing, performing donuts in car parks, wheel spinning, drifting, excessive revving and car cruises.
No further details about the Lamborghini have been released, and it is not known whether any arrests were made.
