Greater Manchester Police have issued an appeal for information after a disturbance and a reported shooting at a property in Harpurhey, close to the Oldham border, have left a home and vehicle damaged.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday 9 July when police received a report of a disturbance at an address on Eamont Walk, part of an estate off Carisbrook Street. Threats were made towards the occupants before damage was caused to the home and a car parked on the drive. Two men were seen wearing balaclavas – one on a Surron bike and the other on foot – while others were present nearby in a blue vehicle.

The following day, on Thursday 10 July, a report of a firearm being discharged at the same address was received. No arrests have been made, and no injuries have been reported.

Police believe the incidents were targeted and there is no wider threat to the community. Detective Inspector Sam Jones of City of Manchester CID said: “These were two distressing incidents and while our enquiries remain ongoing, we believe they were targeted. There is currently no information to suggest a wider threat to the community. If you have any concerns, please speak to our officers.”

He added: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. We are urging residents in the Harpurhey area, including those in Oldham, if you witnessed anything suspicious or have any information that could assist our enquiries, please get in touch with us quoting the relevant log number.”

Police are specifically appealing for CCTV or dashcam footage from the surrounding areas. They are looking for footage from between 5.50pm and 6.40pm on Wednesday 9 July, and between 12.30am and 1am on Thursday 10 July. Oldham residents are urged to check their private CCTV systems or dashcams if they were travelling in the Harpurhey area during these times, as the incidents remain under investigation. The Eamont Walk estate is located off Carisbrook Street, near the A6010, which is a route used by Oldham commuters.

GMP have stressed that there is no evidence of a widespread threat, and officers are conducting door-to-door enquiries in the local area. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to neighbourhood officers.
