Police have renewed their appeal for dashcam, doorbell, and CCTV footage over a month after the crash that killed Stretford Grammar School headteacher Michael Mullins – and are urging people from across Greater Manchester, including Oldham, who may have been in the area at the time to check their recordings.

The 56‑year‑old died on the evening of 20 April following a collision on Paddock Lane. Simon Richardson, 34, of no fixed address, has since been charged with murder, manslaughter, dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving without insurance.

Despite the charge, detectives from GMP’s Major Incident Team say their investigation remains active and are now specifically asking for anyone who was in the vicinity of Dunham Road, Paddock Lane, Bent Lane, Mill Lane, or Wet Gate Lane around 6pm that day to come forward with any footage they may have recorded.

“This has been a fast‑paced investigation over the last couple of weeks which has resulted in a man being charged,” said Detective Chief Inspector Louise Edwards. “While comprehensive enquiries are still ongoing, we are now asking for anyone who witnessed the collision or has footage from the locations mentioned, to please get in touch. Whether you saw something suspicious, caught something on a dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV – all of the information will be thoroughly reviewed and assessed.”

The force has set up a dedicated online portal where members of the public can securely upload relevant material. Officers have stressed that even footage that appears insignificant could prove crucial in piecing together the events leading up to and including the collision.

Although the incident took place in Stretford, the road network around Paddock Lane, Dunham Road, Bent Lane, Mill Lane, and Wet Gate Lane connects to routes used by commuters and visitors from across the conurbation, including from Oldham. Local residents who remember passing through that part of Trafford on the evening of 20 April are particularly asked to check their devices.

Anyone with information is urged to upload footage via the GMP portal or contact the Major Incident Team directly. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
